21st Century Skills Resources

26 January 2008 No Comment

I had a moment to sit down with Ken Kay, the co-founder and president of the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, and talk a bit about the implementation of the 21st Century Skills.

Obviously, these skills are focused on preparing our students with the right skills for the jobs that tomorrow has to offer. And while it’s best for these skills to be applied to content from a national, state or even district level, it’s also key for individual educators to to begin strongly advocating them in their classrooms as we wait for states to adopt plans for implementation.

Ken gave me two solid resources to pass along.

This page is maintained by the West Virginia Department of Education and has some excellent models and resources for implementing the 21st Century Skills. Following the links at the bottom of the page will lead you through the strategies that their state uses to put their plan into action.

Route21 has some incredible articles on the foundation of the 21st Century Skills as well as almost 500 other resources that can be used to learn more about how they can be implemented. To top it off, you can join the growing number of members that submit and rank the resources to provide the best possible content for those wishing to advocate the movement.
