The free webservice Avvenu allows anyone to browse, share, and download the files from their internet connected home pc from anywhere that they have an internet connection. Learn how it works and get started.

As teachers it sometimes seems that we live two lives when working. We do half of our work in the classroom and then turn around and do the rest on our home computer. Most of us manage this well, but even the best of us arrive at work only to remember that the hard work we did the night before is still on our home computer. That’s where Avvenu comes in.

Anyone with an always on computer connection at home can now have easy access to it’s files from anywher via the web. It requires you have a online computer at home with Avvenu’s Access N Share software loaded. Once that is taken care of you simply log in with your username and password and gain access to all of your home computers files just like you were right in front of it. Great!

One word of warning, that while the system they use takes great pains in making a secure connection, if anyone were to get ahold of you username and password, they too could get access to your files.

With that out of the way, let’s get started.

Step 1

Start by going to Avenuu’s site and downloading the free software by clicking the round free downlaod button on their site. Click Here.

Step 2

To begin the download and install click the run button.

Step 3

Click run to begin installation.

Step 4

Install by following the onscreen instructions

Step 5

Setup by selecting a user name password and email for logging in from a remote computer. Hit continue.

Step 6

We are covering the free option here so on the next screen you will want to click on the free version button.

After following those steps you are now ready to travel away from your computer. Notice the icon in by the clock in your task bar.

This shows you that the software is running. To access your computer from elsewhere this needs to be running.

Step 7

From a remote computer anywhere in the world you can now go to Avvenu.com and login by typing in the username and password you selected.(select the Access N Share option)

The screen that pops up will be the files on your home computer. Click on them to view, and drag and drop on your desktop to transfer.
