Teachers:Sell Your Original Lesson Plans
Nov 2nd, 2007 by Scott Walker
Often times teachers, frustrated with textbooks not aligning with their curriculum, create their own original lesson plans. These lessons often get filed away, year after year. Sometimes they get shared within the department, but hardly ever do they ever get any compensation for the labor they put into it. Teacherspayteachers.com is changing that. The site, covered on CNN, the LATimes, and many other publications offers an ebay-like approach for teachers wanting to get money for their good ideas.
Here’s how it works. Teachers can sign up with the site and for an anual fee of around $30 upload and sell their original works. (They can be in any one of many file formats including audio, video, smartboard, and most office type formats.) From there teachers just set their price(you get 85%), list it with an appropriate summary, and then wait for the money to roll in via paypal.
Teachers looking for materials can look for quality based on user reviews and ratings. They have a 7-point rating system that allows users to rate their experience with certain sellers based on several factors.

We offer a similar service at teachbits.com for selling lesson plans and creating interactive lessons, and right now it’s free to sign up with the promotional code CONTRIBUTE. We also have a library of about 100 free lessons for teachers!
Thanks for the heads up Alyx. I’ll check it out and see if we can feature on the site!
