Windows Smart Phone as Remote Control

17 March 2008 No Comment

If you happen to be one of those teachers that live their life from the screen of your Smartphone, then you probably already know that with a data plan and a few quick settings you can have your email sent directly to your phone. Not only can you check your mail, but you can reply and often use the exchange server’s address book.

You might also be using your phone to herd your office documents together if you are running WM 6, which allows you to view, edit, and create MS Office documents(PowerPoint is view only).

Both of those are great productivity starters, but one of the most interesting uses I have come across however is a program that communicates with your computer, via Bluetooth, and let’s you  control things such as Powerpoint, Windows Media Player, etc…  To accomplish this, you would of course need the following things:

Windows SmartPhone running WM5 or WM6
Computer with Bluetooth technology.

You can check out the developers website here at  http://www.jaylee.org/remotecontrol The software is free, but I am sure that if you find this useful he wouldn’t turn down some feedback or a tip. Other useful programs for your mobile device? Let us know in the comments.
